James Packer has admitted he engaged in “shameful” and “disgraceful” conduct over a series of threatening emails he sent to a high-profile businessman in 2015, but blamed his bipolar disorder for his behaviour in the past.
The billionaire faced an inquiry into Crown Casino today reportedly appearing via video link from his yacht.
The identity of the businessman who was threatened by Mr Packer was not revealed but referred to only as ‘Mr X’.
The inquiry is also investigating allegations of money laundering and links to organised crime.
“How can the NSW regulator have any confidence in your character or integrity in light of your conduct in these emails?” Counsel assisting Adam Bell asked.
“Because I’m being treated now for my bipolar,” replied Mr Packer.
The billionaire businessman also revealed that he’s unwell and that strong medication is affecting his memory.
