Poker Central has been busy. About one week after announcing that they acquired the High Stakes Poker brand and library of television episodes, Poker Central issued another press release. This one pertains to Global Poker, which is now the official online poker partner for many of the company’s poker tournaments, brands, and events.
The sponsorship seems to be quite extensive. IN addition to live stream integration, there will be a sponsored lounge area in the PokerGO Studio, owned by Poker Central.
As Poker Central grows, it continues to expand its presence in the poker world.
The February 11 announcement named Global Poker as the “official online poker partner” for many of Poker Central’s live events. Per the press release, these are included in the agreement:
–Super High Roller Bowl
–US Poker Open
–Poker After Dark
–domestic and international marquee events
Another aspect of the deal pertains to the PokerGO Studio, where all Poker Central events are held and filmed in Las Vegas. A newly-created “Global Poker Lounge” will be located inside the studio to “provide fans a heightened poker viewing experience, both on-site and via streaming.” This includes “innovative live stream integrations.”
Further, Global Poker players will be able to win exclusive experiences, including the following:
–Meet-and-greet opportunities with players

The companies’ respective statements about each other were filled with glowing praise.
Poker Central President Sampson Simmons said, “Kicking off this partnership with Global Poker has been a dream come true for our team.” He mentioned that both companies share a common goal of making poker more accessible through live events and “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences.
Global Poker GM David Lyons added, “Given the prestige of Poker Central’s events, bringing our brands together feels like the next step in taking both partners to the next level.”

What is Global Poker?
It calls itself a social online poker room with free-play poker and more than one million players. “Every month, Global Poker awards millions in cash and other prizes to US players.”
The site is owned by VGW GP Limited, with the VGW standing for Virtual Gaming Worlds. The company also owns Chumba Casino, an online casino site with the same business model.
VGW was founded in 2010, Chumba Casino launched in 2012, and Global Poker launched in late 2016. The latter is based on what VGW calls its “proprietary sweepstake technology (patent pending).” When the patent is approved, VGW plans to expand into other social gaming areas, such as lottery games, bingo, and sports-related offerings.
Global Poker offers traditional online poker games like Texas Hold’em and Omaha but not exactly for real money or play money. Players compete for Sweeps Coins, which can be redeemed for prizes.
Basically, players can buy virtual currency on Global Poker, and they receive chips to be used for poker play, though they cannot be redeemed for real money or exchanged. The currency is “Gold Coins.” Players who buy them may also be given free “sweepstakes entries” with “Sweeps Coins.” They can also be used to play poker, whether tournaments or cash games.
When players win Sweeps Coins, they can redeem them for real money or other prizes with a minimum of 50 of them.
