MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis baseball added another signee to its spring 2020 class, as All-State honoree Sam Slaughter inked his letter of intent to play for the Tigers.
A native of Smyrna, Tenn., Slaughter signed his NLI after a standout prep career with Stewarts Creek High School.
“We are excited to add Sam’s left handed bat, speed and his aggressive style of play to this class,” head coach Daron Schoenrock said of the outfielder. “His hard-nosed approach to the game will impact our locker room, and we can’t wait for Sam to become a Tiger.”
Slaughter earned All-Area, All-Region and All-State accolades as a sophomore, and most recently garnered All-Area and All-Region honors as a junior last spring.
As a freshman, Slaughter helped guide Stewarts Creek High School to a runner-up finish in the state championship.
Along with baseball, Slaughter also lettered in football for three years, playing wide receiver for Stewarts Creek.
